Name..........: Angelica Arroyo Hi Mr. Toledo, It's me Angelica Arroyo, one of the scholarship recipients. I am very greatful for the scholarship I received thanks to your great efforts. The scholarship is going to help me greatly when I begin college in the fall at Cal Poly Pomona. These many contributions truly help everyone and I truly admire you. Someday I hope I have the opportunity to create such organizations like the one you created on behalf of your father. I will keep in contact with you and keep you updated on my progress in college. Sincerely, Angelica Arroyo ![]() Name..........: Don Miller I thought of the loss of my mother to cancer as I read this site and I could feel the sentimental strings of my heart being tugged on when you talked about your Mom and her brush with cancer. I am playing in the upcoming Antonio Toledo Memorial Golf Tournament for the 1st time. Since visiting this site and reading about Mr. Toledo, this Tournament will mean much more to me than just a good day out on the course. I will be remembering my Mom and Dad along with the thoughts you shared in your letter about your Dad and the Love you still have for Him. As I read it, the thing that came to my mind was the simple epitaph left on my folks grave stones to try and explain the full life of wonderful parents. They say....She Loved....He Gave. May God enrich your endeavors... Don Miller ![]() Name..........: Jane Casey Hi my name is Jane Casey.I just lost my brother in feb of cancer. His wife passed away 5 yrs ago of cancer. We are putting on a golf tournament to raise money for cancer too. Your website is very good. I made one for us. I am self taught so it's nothing fancy, but i think it will get the job done. I love the way you have all the memorials and survivors on your site. We can and will make a difference. We have sent out 500 donation forms this past week and are waiting to see what happens, so far so good. We only knew 10 days before my brother passed away that he even had cancer. The night he passed I decided then and there to do something. So for only having 2 months into this, we have accomplished quite a bit. By Sept. I hope to have our wesite filled with donors and sponsors. Good luck on your event again this year. God bless you for doing this. I have heard about the tournament but didn't know there was a website dedicated to your father. I like how you put your father's music, it's very touching. I agree with what you wrote about how talents need to be shared. I would love to help with the tournament anyway I could. I may even have a go at golfing (I've only golfed ONCE in my life!) should be fun! God bless you brother! I am setting up a small charity in his name to fund junior golf events at the municipal courses in the city of Toronto and would like to fundraise by running a charity tournament. Thanks for making your site available as an inspiration for those like us who want our loved ones to live on in some way and to make a difference in the lives of others. ![]() Name..........: Wes Green Joe, you're doing a great thing here. I applaud your efforts and I look forward to participating in th golf tournament (which starts in 10 hours and I need to get some sleep). -Wes

I found your site because my son has done a Marathon of Golf that benefits the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America the past four years. We plan to expand his event and I was searching sites to compare events. Yours looks great! Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful site, Joe, and a great tribute to your father! I'm sure he's very proud of it. It's wonderful to see you taking the loss of a loved one and turning it into something that benefits others. Your description of your mother and father is touching and so beautifully worded. I will recommend to others that they visit the website. Keep me posted on the 2000 event; I'd like to see how I can participate or assist.
I was honored to be invited to speak at the golf tournament fund raiser. I know your father would be proud of all the efforts you are making to help find a cure for cancer. It was a pleasure meeting your mother. She is blessed with a beautiful caring family. My husband and I had a wonderful evening. I could feel the sense of family unity that surrounded the dinner event. I am proof that the funds raised for cancer research are making a difference. I thank God for evey brand new day. Technology strides require funding. The sponsorship of this yearly event is a loving tribute and an opportunity to help other cancer victims. Thanks for making a difference!! Warm Regards, Cancer Survivor Becky Barron
Joe, What a wonderful tribute to your father! He is surely smiling down from Heaven on all of these people dedicated to such a worthy cause in his memory. Keep up the great work and keep us posted on future events. Always in our hearts and minds......
Hello Mr. Toledo, First off, I would like to thank you for presenting me with a scholarship in honor of your father. I appreciate it.Also, I think what you've done with this site is great. It's nice that you did this for your father. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him but I'm sure, if he was anything like you are, he was a great man. Keep up the good work!!
Uncle Joe, I must say, hard work really does pay off! I feel this golf tournament is very unique, besides being fun it's proceeds are going to 2 great causes: scholars and The City of Hope. I am glad that I could be a part of this and I am looking forward to next years tournanment as well. * The web site's great too. You've done a lot of changes, but hey, its good! Sincerly, Michelle Toledo
Hi, Joe! I have just finished reading your page and I was moved by what your wrote about your Father and Mother. It's great what you are doing in your Father's Memory! I am also involved with a group of friends in an Association called P.A.A.G.A. (Portuguese American Amateur Golf Association). We also raise money for non-profit organizations, such as Meeting Street School, for children in need of help when stricken by rare and costly diseases (bone marrow transplants, liver transplants, etc.)and for scholarships. If you want to know more about us go to WWW.Geocities.com/augusta/5808/. Our Tournament this year is on September 20 at Fall River Country Club, in Fall River, MA. Good luck, Joe! I hope your Tournament next year turns out to be another great success. Um abraco, Tony Arruda

Joe- It was a great honor to be with your family & friends on Saturday to pay tribute to your father. I am sure that he is very proud of you and the success of the tournament. It is wonderful to see how your family worked so hard to put this event together, and to help the City of Hope find a cure for Cancer. I wish you more success and look forward to next years'. Best wishes to you and your family.
Dear Joe`: What a wonderful tribute to your father, whom I had the pleasure of having met, but now wish that I could have known him on a more personal basis. You are doing an outstanding job and helping two most worthwhile causes...cancer research and education. It was wonderful seeing you on Saturday, June 26, and participating in your tournament. Thank you for assigning me to a most enjoyable foursome. John Melo, Joe Feliciano and Manuel Cabral are not only excellent golfers (products of Campo de Golfe da Terceira) but also very enjoyable company. I look forward to improving my golf game so that I can contribute to next year's tournament. Best wishes always. Rod Alvernaz
Joe Toledo and Luso Golf Committee, I would like to share with you my congratulations on a wonderful evening Saturday, June 26th. Even though I did not participate during the day in the tournament, the dinner and entertainment were extremely enjoyable. But the most memorable part of the evening was the guest speaker. Having recently lost my grandfather to lung cancer, and having an aunt diagnosed with breast cancer, the evening was a chance for me to count my blessings and to hope for a cure to the aweful disease. The City of Hope guest speaker, as well as your mother, are wonderful examples of what our small contributions and prayers do for the discovery of new treatments, or possibly a cure. I hope to be part of the wonderful experience once again next year, and maybe even try golfing. Thank you once again for a wonderful evening. Sandra Alamo Chino, CA
Joe, what a cool idea. I really like your site. And it's a woderful cause. I wish I was a golfer. Cheers, Tanvir

Joe, Over the past years, I've grown to know most members of the Toledo family. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting your father. I wish I had, because he was obviously a wonderful person. Your tribute is touching, your cause is worthwhile (I am also a cancer survivor), and your web site is great! My son, Todd, will post some flyers and registration forms at Brea's Country Hills Liquor & Deli, where he works. I'll put some up at Brea Community Hospital, where I work (all doctors golf, right)? I'm going to start working on a few of my golfing friends and relatives right now. Good luck. Barbara
I would like to wish you great success in this years tournament. I feel that the efforts that you have made for the memory of you father are incredible and you should be applauded. This is the first time that I have visited this web site and not knowing your family, I have learned that your family as a whole shares a large amount of compassion. This is a great way to get the Portuguese community involved. I will pass the word around about this web site to the Portuguese community in my area because I know that they will to to impression. Well brother, you continue to amaze me. I too loved your father (my father in-law) and miss him also. What I remember most about him is his great love for his grandchildren. He was always their for all of us. I can remember many an early mornings were he was on the side lines of soccer-baseball or what ever the event was to enjoy his grandkids. I know they miss his presence. But through your effort to keep his SPIRIT ALIVE he lives on in all of us. We at this Toledo House love you very much and say HAT'S OFF to you!!!
Great Job to all who put together this wonderful site for Anthonio, His memory will live forever, through his family and friends, we miss him dearly. Hope to see all at the golf Tournament or dance. Love the Toldeo family, as if they were my own. What I'm I saying they are PART of my family (haha).

What a great tribute to your Father and to the beautiful country that is Portugal, Parabens.
My heart goes out to you. I'm not portuguese but my husband is. My sister died of cancer too, 5 years ago, and you think as the days go on, the pain should go away, but it doesn't. I guess that's how much love we have in our hearts for that person. Your site has been the best site that i've seen, I can see how much love you have for your father. I know your father is looking down on you, as my sister does too. He couldn't of raised a better son then you. May God Bless You and Your Family
Joe, this is great keep up the good work.
Hi! I just wanted to say that your homepage has touched my heart. I was diagnosed with leukemia twice. First when I was 16 and again when I was 20. I received the bone marrow transplant last year from my older sister and I am grateful till this day to be alive and well. It will be a year in April that I had the transplant. I can understand everything that you and your family has gone through with your father. Because my family hit those hard times too. What helped me get through this is the strength, love, and faith that my family and friends gave me and my will to survive and help those who are in the same situation as my family and I are. I thank you so gratefully to have contacted me about your father and your family. He must be very proud of you. I will send this address to all my friends and family here and in Portugal. Keep doing the good work and always have FAITH in God. Com muito amor, Sonia Claro

Dear Sir, I assume you found my name on the list of people traveling to the Expo in Portugal last year. I was happy to read your mail and see the web site of your father's memorial. I did go to Portugal, spent 12 days there, only 2 days at the Expo and the rest of the time in the north near Porto with my nephew and his family. He is German but married a Portuguese lady who enjoys visiting her family in Porto often. I loved the people of Portugal. I am a violinist and music teacher so the music of Portugal was of interest to me. The fado music is very beautiful, but somewhat sad like the american blues. Listening to your father's music gave me a happier feeling, more like celebrating the good things of life. He must have been a delightful person. We lost my husband to that terrible disease of cancer in 1985. Best wishes with your work to raise funds to make this world a happier place.
Is very nice site. I'll talk about it to my friend. Tenho muinta saudade de Portugal.
Hi there: I hope that you will continue this good program. Thanks for inviting me
Jose, This is an amazing tribute to your father. I'm sure he is watching over you, shining with his pride. Although we cannot make it to the tournament, I will e-mail my friends across the country and inform them of this site. Boa Sorte! Carla

Hi Joe, What a wonderful Idea to let the spirit of your father be the inspiration for the young and weak and give them hope in their journey of life. I am honored to be part of your foursome.
What a site! I can't believe it, this is better than TV! I want to play in the golf tournament. Seriously, knowing you and your Dad; I am honored that you have asked me to help in carrying on your Dad's memory with this Golf Tournament. What a living, lasting tribute to your father. I can attest to what is said about your Dad as I never saw him without a smile!!!! And I'm sure he's proud that those who did not know him get to see his smile through you.
Keep up the good work.

What a wonderful way to keep your father's memory alive and to help continue the fight against cancer! Well done. I will be sure to tell all my friends about it. Parabens!
What a great tribute to your Father! I can see he was a great noble man of stature, well liked and respected in his community. It was a pleasure having the opportunity in viewing your website, seeing your family and understanding your determination in uplifting ordinary kids into extraordinary students in college including your quest in finding a cure for the dreadful disease of Cancer. As for myself I'm a Luso-South African, 26, moving permanently soon to Vancouver, Canada. Joe you're a shining example for the Portuguese community around the world. People that say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those who are doing it. All the best with your quest in improving the quality of life of others, and following in your Father's footsteps. Take care Augusto

Dear Joe, I had been to your site already and I congratulate you for your project and for your devotion to your father's memory. I've sent to Brazilian National Cancer Intitute a link to your site, too. I hope the Golf Tournament to be a great success.
Sinceramente, BOM TRABALHO!!! I am especially overwhelmed by all the signatures and the positive response. It is wonderful to know that the portuguese community has not given up. I truly am proud to be portuguese-american. Viva Portugal P.S. Have you thought of possibly having a tournament in the New England Area. I think the turn-out would be sensacional. Good Luck
Mr. Toledo & family: It was a pleasure to have been able to visit your exceptionally put together web page. It is also an honor that you have allowed so many people the priviledge to a little insight as to the wonderful person your father IS. He seems to have touched many with his kindness and music. As a singer of the Fado, I enjoyed very much the excerpts from the cassette which display the exceptional talent of yur father. You're on to something great here! Thank for including me on your e-mail. Best wishes to you and your family. Regards, Lisa Amaral Mendes
Mr. Joe Toledo, I am the young man you just recently visited while shopping for a new built in bar-b-que. I was very impressed and touched by the story of your family. What you are doing is very honorable and I would be very proud to present this website and this information to my company. Rest assure this information about this site and the reason for the site will be passed along. My regards to you and your family.
Joe, You did a very good job at putting this together. The page on your father and family was quite good and moving. I'd like to sign up for the tournament, but I may be out of the country at the time. Ed
I was very impressed going through the website and seeing everything that you put together. Even if I was stranger to your family, I know that this would still be impressive to me. Of course my favorite part of this website, I'm sure to many others, is the Antonio's Music section. That is the exact image that I have of your father. I heard that you can hear his music on this website, which I thought was very cool, but until I finally listened to it... well I can say I was moved. Moved and touch by the feeling of his sound through music. It makes sense in my head better than in my written thoughts, but for probably some fifteen years every wednesday of my life I heard fingers slightly dancing and singing a twelve string with the simple lyrics of his smile. If I knew then what I know and can appreciate now, I would not dance with my feet to the sounds of his passion, but with my heart and soul. I would close my eyes and absorb every note that swayed out and like the swells of the oceans creating a wave, only open my eyes when that wave comes to an end. Mr. Toledo, as I knew him, was quite remarkable. I know that now, not just because I learned a greater appreciation of music, no . Simply because I remember his only lyric to his music....his smile!!............Thanks Mr. Toledo! We'll see you on the golf course Joe!
I sponsor an organization similar to this one in Rhode Island. Please visit their Website at http://.geocities.com/Augusta/5808/Index.html. Eu imigrei para os Estados Unidos em 1964. Nasci na Ribeira Grande em Sao Miguel e participo em varias funcoes sociais Lusoamericanas. Good Luck with your tournament.
it´s spectacular to see someone doing all this to keep the memory of a great man like mr. antónio Toledo..I´m a portuguese boy scout from oporto-portugal, and to me it´s an honour to see all this just to help another people.....to be honest i don´t have any words to express this...i will give you a tip...here in portugal we have one tv show sub26 and is live about subjects, and internet...this program is to all young people and this reach all our emigrants around the worl ..so they e-mail adress is Sub26_rtpi@hotmail.com , so send them an e-mail ( or better lots of e-mails ) talking about this project and maybe they can help you to divulgate this site....from one portuguese friend....one hugh ..and ..Parabéns visto que talves também possamos falar na lingua de camões a nossa lingua...abraços...Francisco cacheira
Dear Joe---I just wanted to see if you had updated the information for the 1999 tournament. You are way ahead of me. Today we received the official request for the matching fund contributions from the Luso-American Life for the 1997 and 1998 tournaments, accordingly I authorized the disbursement of $1,000. ($500. for each year) to the Luso-American Education Foundation. Best wishes. Rod
Joe, believe it or not I finally got a chance to check this website, it's FANTASTIC! ITS GREAT! this is a great cause and you are going to touch a lot of people with the funds you raised. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the info regarding this site and your tournament coming up .... At the moment, I am unable to help but, hopefully, in the future. I enjoyed your Dad's music and would appreciate knowing if any of his music is available. I grew up on Fados, etc. but haven't been able to find any good Portugese music to play for my family. If you know of anything, please let me know. Good luck with your tournament (and your web site!).
I think that what your are trying to do is wonderful and I wish you all the luck in the world. For those of us who will not be able to make the tournament, I think it would help if you had a vehicle to mail us a contribution for for a small donation. Every little bit helps. Good luck. Joe
Very well put together and informative. I will see you at the tournament. I am the tournament director for Whispering Lakes Golf Course. Sincerely, Dan kerr
Joe: I must admit, the site is very impressive. It is definitely the way to get many people into the tournament. I will be looking forward to hearing about any and all updates made to the page. Thank You, Michael J. Sena

Marvellous! Your site is really well designed and I enjoyed to see some faces of the Portuguese-American Community. I would like to hear more from you and, in the meantime, I wish you all the best for the Golf Tournament. Wishing the best for you, Eduardo
I found it to be a very dedicated and informative page. All the best and keep the faith.
I think your passion and drive for this cause is very important since that will always help improve the quality of life of our community throughout the United States. I can relate that since I happen to be the Chairman of the Board of 4 different Portuguese/American organizations here in Rhode Island. I will add your site to my bookmarks and help spread the word about your cause.....It so happens the the Portuguese American Citizens Committee of the Blackstone Valley will be holding a golf tournament this summer to supplement our Scholarship Fund... Um abraco e boa sorte dmfarias
Very nice site.
This is a great site... I enjoyed it...
Thanks for letting me know about this site and your cause. The site is very well done and I wish I could enter the tournament. Perhaps in the future. Saudacoes para todos os vossos visitantes.
Great updates, and new faces. I like the new graphics too.
This homepage is very important to the portuguese descendent shows to the americans our culture and get union for all the portuguese-americans. I'm not portuguese-american but, i'm portuguese-brazilian and i worry a lot to show and teach the things from Portugal to the brazilians. Brazil speak portuguese but, just 18% of the brazilians are descendent of portuguese people. congratulations for this homepage , it makes me happy to know that there's a good community of portuguese in Chino, CA
