Antonio, Juliana an their 4 sons:  Manuel, Francisco (Frank), Jose Antonio (Joe) and Anibal.
This photo was taken in 1962, around 3 years after they arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
from their island of Terceira, in the Azores, Portugal.
In 2004, it marked  the 20th anniversary of Juliana's successful surgery at City of Hope.  It was also the year of her 80th birthday, so her sons wanted to giver her something really special for her birthday.   Due to some family problems, Frank and his brothers had a falling out and had not spoken since Antonio's funeral in 1996.   This had been a reason of great sorrow for Juliana, who always talked about her two "hearth aches:"  Antonio's passing and the fact the 4 brothers no longer got along.

Joe and his brothers, Anibal and Manuel, decided that the best gift they could give Juliana for her 80th birthday would be to truly make up and "forgive" their brother Frank, and be once again, the 4 brothers that they had always been.  On March 19th, 2004 (ironically the anniversary of their first family trip from Azores to Brazil in 1959) Joe, Anibal and Manuel, paid for a plane ticket for Frank, who was (and is) living in Oregon, to fly down to Southern California, where they spent the whole day with Frank in Palm Springs, getting re-acquainted and catching up on a long 8 years of separation.   The whole endeavor:  the planning, the flight arrival and the entire day was caught in a video, filmed by Joe's friend Jun Teppang. 

In the evening of the 7th annual Antonio Toledo Memorial Golf Tournament, a narrated slide-show video was shown during the awards dinner of the golf tournament.  This video depicted Juliana and Antonio's travels from Azores, Portugal to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to California, United States and the personal sacrifice they endured to ensure a better future for their four sons.    This video was a surprise to Juliana and most of the 300 guests present at the dinner, and it was the most "perfect gift" she has ever received, according to Juliana.

After the event, a videotape was given to Juliana showing the actual planning, the time spent by the 4 brothers in Palm Springs, and even footage of the reaction of some of the people during the presentation of this video during the awards dinner.
